SPICI – Company for Innovation, Cooperation, and Internationalization is an international digital accelerator specializing in the Cultural and Creative Industries, Green Economy, and Blue Economy.
SPICI was born in the Technological Park of San Giovanni a Teduccio of the Federico II University of Naples. We focus on digital transformation and offer innovative products, applications, and services to Small and Medium Enterprises and the Public Administration sector, helping them to expand the market and to internationalize.
SPICI designs and develops innovative digital solutions with a specialization in emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, IoT, Cybersecurity, Blockchain, NFT, Gaming/Gamification, and Digital Storytelling.
Our company is an accelerator that specializes in entrepreneurial orientation and training, creation, and development of innovative startups. It manages Acceleration and Open Innovation programs for Public Administration and Big Companies.
SPICI is an international operator specializing in accompanying innovative SMEs and startups to global markets, with a focus on Europe, the United States, China, United Arab Emirates, African countries, and Georgia. It manages international advanced training programs and international S&T cooperation programs for universities, research centers, and public and private actors.
Since our opening, we accelerated more than 150 startups and universities’ spin-offs, in particular in accelerating programs to support their internationalization to China.
International matchmaking and Acceleration programs
Over the years SPICI has promoted and managed important international matchmaking programs targeting SMEs, startups, as well as the research and business ecosystems. It promotes joint laboratories between various countries for the advancement of the digital industry. It designs and manages international cooperation programs on science, culture, and innovation.
Among the important acceleration programs that SPICI implements and coordinates are:
- European Digital Innovation Hubs: proposed by European Commission, funded by the EU and the Member States, have the aim of Functioning as one-stop shops that help companies dynamically respond to digital challenges and become more competitive by providing innovation services by creating a network of 100-200 Digital innovation Hubs operating at both local and EU level. SPICI is participating in this program through the project entitled “Heritage SmartLab” focusing on digital transformation in the field of cultural heritage and creative industries.
- Startups Go Global: International Accelerator of Campania Region: SPICI coordinate the program aimed 1. encourage the internationalization of startups by strengthening their human capital, towards the foreign markets; 2. build a community of innovators who want to evaluate internationalization processes in the sectors identified by the smart specialization strategy of the Campania Region; 3. stimulate new synergies between operators of the regional and foreign innovation ecosystems, to create or integrate innovative entrepreneurship platforms with the target countries (China, the US, Japan, ME.NA.SA) and strengthen the attraction of skills, capital, and resources on the regional territory.
- Huawei Start-up Acceleration Program: SPICI manages, on behalf of Huawei, an acceleration program with a focus on Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Edge Computing, and IoT. The goal of the program is to contribute to fostering the growth of the Huawei business ecosystem (startups, ISVs, SI/PSIs, VAPs) and help generate successful use cases/leads/opportunities/contracts/revenues in private and/or public markets.
“Infiniti Mondi” Project – Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti (CTE)
Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti (CTE), a center for advanced innovation in the Cultural and Creative Industries sector, is started in Naples. The project ‘Infiniti Mondi’, lead by the municipality of Naples, was awarded in the tender ‘Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti’ (CTE) launched by the Italian Ministry of Enterprise and Industry MIMIT. The two-year project has a budget of around EUR 15 million and envisages the construction of an advanced innovation center dedicated to the Cultural and Creative Industries sector.
A project whose name is inspired by the work of the philosopher Giordano Bruno, innovator and visionary of modernity, and which comes to life to create a propulsive center of technological, cultural, and social innovation in Naples.
In particular, SPICI will manage the activities of the Gaming and Digital Storytelling laboratories in collaboration with Meditech; Spici will run the program for the creation of innovative startups, through acceleration and incubation activities, in the field of Cultural and Creative Industries, in particular, in the audiovisual and gaming sectors. The new incubator Fabbrica Italiana dell’Innovazione will manage the activities envisaged under this function.
The CTE will thus aim to guide and support creativity, entrepreneurial initiative, and professional growth in the era of the digital economy.
