Alessandro, can you share the story of how BeSafe Group was founded and what inspired you to establish a company specializing in insurtech for the travel and hospitality sector?
In 2017, I launched BeSafe while still working as a full-time hotelier. My objective was to enhance the security of my prepaid collections and simultaneously elevate the experience and services provided to my guests. I aimed to surpass the limitations of standard “non-refundable” rates. The result of this endeavour was the creation of the BeSafe Rate—a prepaid rate that incorporates insurance, designed to meet the demands of my business and contribute to the overall satisfaction of travellers choosing to reserve accommodations with us. Today, BeSafe Rate has gained adoption not only among hotels but also tour operators and travel agencies. This widespread acceptance is a testament to the substantial development the product has undergone in the past two years, enabling it to address the diverse needs of a broad spectrum of travel operators.
What specific challenges or gaps in the market did you identify that led to the creation of BeSafe Group as a leading insurtech player in the travel industry?
A significant 53% of travellers have encountered unfavourable insurance experiences, creating a reluctance to invest in new insurance coverage. The process of purchasing travel insurance is commonly complex, leading to frustration, particularly when accompanied by an additional 10% charge on the final bill. This is precisely where our intervention becomes crucial. We provide a comprehensive insurance solution that not only simplifies the user experience but also ensures dedicated assistance both before and during the stay.
Can you provide an overview of BeSafe Group’s mission and vision in the insurtech industry, particularly within the travel and hospitality sector?
Our mission is to become the standard of safe travel. We believe that travellers should feel assured throughout their holidays, trusting in an insurance partner ready to assist them in any situation they may encounter. Simultaneously, hotels, tour operators, and travel agencies can depend on us as their insurtech partner, collaborating to attain revenue objectives through a flexible and tailor-made product designed to meet their specific needs.
BeSafe Group is known for its integrated technology solutions. How does your advanced technology streamline the management of prepaid rates for hotels, tour operators, and travel agencies?
Our platform is meticulously designed for seamless integration with booking engines, Property Management Systems (PMs), Revenue Management Systems (RMS), and hotel management systems. This optimisation facilitates efficient data exchange between hotels and insurance companies, eliminating technological frictions and paperwork hurdles. Presently, our platform boasts integration with over 55 tech software solutions worldwide.
