SINGAPORE: “From September 30, over S$900 million in Jobs Support Scheme (JSS) payments will be distributed to employers. According to the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS), the reimbursements would be paid to more than 43,900 employers in Singapore to support the wages of more than 570,000 local employees (Sep 21).
Employers that met the deadlines for making required Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions for their local workers from April to July 2021 will be eligible for the payout.
Employers who signed up for PayNow Corporate before September 24 or who already have a GIRO agreement with IRAS can anticipate payments on September 30. Others might anticipate their checks to arrive on October 15.
Vary sectors such as F&B and gyms and fitness studios, retail, cinemas, and family entertainment, and tourism, hospitality, conventions, and exhibitions will implement different percentages of JSS support throughout the valid time.
MOF and IRAS reminded employers to contribute the right amount of CPF for their employees, based on actual wages paid. Any offenders who try to abuse the process can be charged with aggravated cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, where they may face a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine.”
