Dr. Michela Giuliano leads the forefront of natural dietary supplements, co-founding a company dedicated to restoring health balance through advanced scientific research. From Italy to global markets, including vibrant hubs like Dubai and Saudi Arabia, her innovative approach is reshaping wellness solutions. In this interview, Dr. Giuliano discusses the company’s origins, their pioneering product development strategies, and their impactful expansion into diverse international markets.
Could you introduce yourself and tell us about your company?
I’m Dr. Michela Giuliano, one of the four founders of Abekom, established in 2010. We specialize in researching and producing natural dietary supplements to restore health balance. A meticulous selection of raw materials and unique compositions distinguishes our products. Collaborations with Italian universities drive our research, focusing on understanding biochemical disruptions in the body that lead to imbalances and symptoms if untreated.
What is your main goal in this field?
Our primary goal is to understand these disruptions and identify molecules to reactivate biological mechanisms. We explore global flora for compounds that enhance bodily systems, emphasizing active molecular fractions for precise dosing. Drawing on our expertise as pharmacists, we ensure our products effectively target receptors to restore balance.
What benefits do patients experience with your products?
Patients quickly benefit from our products, often eliminating the need for alternative therapies and minimizing side effects, which is crucial given the widespread use of allopathic treatments. Our supplements effectively address various issues such as muscle and joint pain, migraines, blood sugar and cholesterol regulation, pre-hypertension, stress, insomnia, and urinary tract infections. We excel in anti-aging brain health and cognitive longevity.
How has your market presence evolved over the years?
For several years, we have been embracing Hong Kong’s diverse and discerning market. Now, our focus has shifted towards the markets in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, both of which have shown remarkable receptiveness thus far. The dynamism of the UAE market, coupled with a high cultural awareness that facilitates a thorough understanding of our products’ complexity, is noteworthy. In Saudi Arabia, despite the market being relatively immature, it presents significant growth opportunities for product placement. We are already seeing promising outcomes from our initiatives in the Saudi market.
Why did you focus on expanding into the Gulf region?
As said before, we targeted the Gulf due to its still evolving yet promising market landscape, offering a competitive edge also due to the presence of fewer competitors. The region’s high cultural and scientific standards align well with our specialized products.
Each market presented unique challenges, met with tailored approaches and strategic partnerships. Saudi Arabia, particularly, aligns closely with our product needs, fostering potential collaborations for the future.
How has your experience with Kelmer Group been thus far?
We have navigated these two distinct markets with the assistance of various collaborators from Kelmer’s team, who have identified partners aligned with our requirements. The team consistently provided us with accurate market insights and guided us closely through every step, playing a decisive role in negotiations. We view this collaboration with Kelmer as just the beginning and look forward to further opportunities together.
